Introduction: Engineering Thermochemistry is the science and technology that investigates both heat-driven and heat-induced chemical reactions and their engineering applications, involving various engineering fields (i.e., energy, chemical, petrochemical, metallurgical, mineral processing, materials, environmental, aerospace, and national defense). As a novel interdisciplinary subject, Engineering Thermochemistry holds the greatest potential to underpin the scientific and technological advancement of thermochemical reactions and their engineerings, promoting the efficient synergy between heat and chemical reactions. To advance the development of Engineering Thermochemistry and highlight its pivotal role in driving industrial transformation and upgrading as well as enhancing the efficient conversion of resources and energy, this session (No. 32: Engineering Thermochemistry and Low Carbon Chemical Engineering) focus on the theme of developing engineering thermochemistry and enabling green and low-carbon transformation. Therefore, this session will explore and address future transformations in low-carbon chemical industries through the following but not limited to these key topics such as pyrolysis and thermal cracking, thermal catalysis, thermal decomposition and synthesis, gasification and thermal reforming, combustion and detonation, molten salt/solvent thermochemistry, and AI-integrated thermal analysis.
