Introduction: Engineering thermochemistry is a science and technology that studies the chemical reactions driven and induced by “heat” and their engineering implementation. As a new interdisciplinary subject, “engineering thermochemistry” can maximize its potential to support the scientific and technological development of related disciplines in “thermochemical reactions and their engineering implementation”, and promote the efficient coordination of heat and reactions. In order to promote the development of the discipline of engineering thermochemistry and its prominent role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of related industries and the efficient conversion of resources and energy, with the theme of “Developing Engineering Thermochemistry to Empower Green and Low-Carbon Transformation”, this sub-forum will focus on the directions such as pyrolysis gasification, thermal catalysis, thermochemical conversion of renewable energy, AI + low-carbon chemical engineering, etc., to explore the future industrial transformation of engineering thermochemistry and low-carbon chemical engineering. The sub-forum has specially set up a special issue on Bioproducts and Biorefinery in the *Biomass & Bioenergy* journal, and excellent manuscripts will be recommended for publication in the special issue.
